October 30 • 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Created as a culmination of the various international festival nights presented in Fell Hall in the 1970s, International Gala Night has been a part of Illinois State University for almost fifty years. This event provides a showcase for the different international clubs and organizations on campus to present about their organizations and recruit new membership. It also offers these organizations the opportunity to educate the campus community on their culture or country through a wide variety of presentation formats, including fashion shows, martial arts exhibitions, and dance performances.
This year, International Gala Night will be included as part of the Culturally Responsive Campus Community conference, and the event will be expanded to welcome many of the different multicultural organizations on campus. In order to reflect this change, the event will be re-designated as Multicultural Gala Night. However, while the name may have changed, the event itself will continue to provide the wonderful programming, presentations, and food that have made it a vital part of campus culture.
This event is just one of many of the unique programs sponsored by the United International Association and Office of International Studies and Programs at ISU. For more information about how to get involved with the organizations presenting at this event, please contact Matt Schwab at mlschwa@ilstu.edu.
Note: Attire for this event should be either business attire or cultural garb.
